The 10th – 16th of June will see The Northern host The Manchester Trophy. It is one of the biggest pre-Wimbledon Ladies tennis tournaments and will draw 5000 spectators over the week-long period to watch 135 players fight it out for a $100,000 prize.
The event itself is backed by Manchester City Council and is organised by the LTA. Many businesses will also be getting involved in the action too, with the likes of Lexus, Clarins, Bright Wealth Management. C&C plus more, all lending their support.
The residents of Manchester and the surrounding areas will get to see some amazing international players, and in addition, get to show their support for our home-grown players. Such as Naomi Broady, a local athlete who was born in Stockport and is returning to the tournament again.
With The Northern rated as the best grass lawn courts outside of London, this is truly going to be a fantastic tennis tournament. One which supports women in sport and is a legacy event from the sporting achievements at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
